Southend Wind Orchestra offers high playing standards. Our general entrance standard is minimum of grade 6 for players, but principals and many others are of grade 8 and upward. We enjoy a variety of challenging repertoire which embraces the full range of contemporary and traditional music written for the symphonic wind band.

Currently we are particularly looking for low woodwinds and clarinets.

You will find us a friendly group who enjoy our weekly rehearsal for both the musical challenges and the company of other musicians. We offer a warm welcome to anyone interested in applying for membership.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings, 7:45pm until 9:45PM during term time.

Rehearsals are located at:
  Wesley Methodist Church
  Elm Road,
  Leigh-on-Sea,
  Essex,
  SS9 1SJ

(Please park opposite the church, behind the Police station)

Festival of Remembrance a resounding success

We were thrilled and honoured to take part in the Festival of Remembrance alongside Southend Band and Orpheus Singers on Saturday 12th November 2022.  Our main works included Journey and Celebration as well as Ovation.  We were delighted to not only take part but that there was £465.57 received in the retiring bucket collection that will be equally distributed between the Royal British Legion and the Dame Vera Lynn Memorial Fund.  Thank you so much for coming along to the event if you were able.

We would like to invite you to our final concert of 2022 which is on Sunday 27th November 2022 @ 5.30pm in St Margaret's Church in Leigh on Sea.
